Celebrate Pedal Power And Take Part In Bike Week!

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Bicyclists across Los Angeles can take part in "National Bike Week" starting Monday.

Bike week, which is sponsored by Metro and other area transit agencies, is meant to celebrate pedal power.

Monday is dedicated to fixing up bicycles, and on Tuesday Good Samaritan Hospital, 626 S. Witmer Ave., will host its 10th Annual Blessing of the Bicycles from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Local cycling groups will host guided tours Wednesday in the San Fernando Valley, downtown Los Angeles, Culver City, Pasadena and Gardena.

Bicyclists can ride DASH and Commuter Express buses for free for Bike to Work Day Thursday.

About 60 retailers will offer discounts to bikers Friday through Sunday for Bike Local Weekend.
