Arrest Made In Harbor Gateway Triple Homicide

HARBOR GATEWAY (CBSLA.com) — Authorities on Saturday announced the arrest of a suspect in the triple homicide at an apartment complex in Harbor Gateway.

The murders occurred Friday around 5:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of W. 250th Street. Three men were killed and another man wounded in the attack.

Officials said Narada Brooks, 28, was taken into custody Friday evening in the city of La Habra.

He is currently being held, without bail, on murder charges, according to Officer Sara Faden of the LAPD's Media Relations department.

The three deceased victims were described by authorities as black males. The three men were identified by the Coroner Saturday. Killed were Laurent Latty, 33, who lives in Jonesboro, Georgia; Dewayne Damion Cover, a 33-year-old Torrance resident; and 44-year-old Courtney Murray, also of Torrance.

A fourth person was reportedly shot in the leg. He was taken to a nearby hospital and was in serious condition.

Police were unsure if the fourth person wounded was a victim or another suspect involved in the murders. He was found several blocks from the crime scene.

LAPD Sgt. Rudy Lopez said all the men were acquainted and that the murders followed some type of dispute inside an apartment.

Witnesses said they heard between eight and nine gun shots.
