Irvine Tennis Instructor Accused Of Lewd Acts With Student, 13

 Jarrid Thomas Baldogo

IRVINE (CBSLA.com) — An Orange County tennis instructor is accused of having inappropriate physical contact with a 13-year-old tennis student.

Irvine Police Detectives Thursday arrested Jarrid Thomas Baldogo, 29, on charges of lewd conduct with a child. The alleged abuse was believed to have occurred between February and April of this year.

The victim's parents contacted police on May 8 after discovering text messages on the victim's phone, police said.

Upon launching an investigation, detectives served a search warrant at Baldogo's residence in the Westpark area of Irvine.

Authorities said there is no indication that there could be other alleged victims, but did note that Baldogo had access to children for a number of years working as a tennis instructor.

For the past two-and-a-half years, Baldogo has worked as a private instructor, seeking students over the Internet, according to police. He previously worked for a company that provides tennis instruction in the Woodbridge area of Irvine.

Detectives are actively investigating the possibility there may be other potential victims.

Anyone with information about the arrest is urged to email Detective Jonathan Sampson or call the Irvine Police Department at (949)724-7179.
