5 Freeway Reopens After Multi-Car Crash In Santa Clarita

SANTA CLARITA (CBSLA.com) — A multi-vehicle crash Friday injured at least one person and prompted the closure of the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway in Santa Clarita, authorities said.

Up to nine cars were involved in the collision that occurred in the area south of Calgrove Boulevard around 11:12 a.m., according to Los Angeles County Fire and California Highway Patrol officials.

Three ambulances were initially called to the scene, but no one was transported, according to L.A. County Fire.

Three northbound lanes of the 5 Freeway were reopened by 12:30 p.m., but traffic remained backed up for a couple of miles.

It was not immediately known what caused the crash.
