Carjacking Suspect In Custody After Day-Long Barricade Situation In Hawaiian Gardens

HAWAIIAN GARDENS (CBSLA.com) — Authorities announced the arrest Thursday of a carjacking suspect who held a SWAT team at bay for hours while barricaded inside the garage of his Hawaiian Gardens home.

Jorge Delvillar, 19, was taken into custody at 2:50 p.m. from the 12200 block of 224th Street.

Delvillar had barricaded himself in the garage after officials arrived at the home to serve an arrest warrant Thursday morning, according to Capt. Mike Parker of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

He surrendered after tear gas was deployed by deputies with the Department's Special Weapons Team.

Delvillar was booked at the Lakewood Sheriff's Station for carjacking and is being held in lieu of $190,000 bail. He is scheduled to next appear in the Bellflower Courthouse on May 14.
