Competency Questions Raised About Woman Accused Of Barricading Herself Inside Star's Home

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The woman accused last month of barricading herself for six-and-a-half hours inside an "American Pie" star's home, was ordered sent to the Mental Health Courthouse.

Criminal proceedings are suspended while Roxanna Bear, 32, can be mentally evaluated. Her lawyer expressed doubt about her mental competency.

Last month, Bear holed up inside "American Pie" actor Eddie Kaye Thomas' Hollywood Hills home after he reportedly asked her to leave.

Thomas, 32, reportedly met Bear at a restaurant the evening prior and invited her to his home. When he asked her to leave the following morning -- April 17 -- officials said she grabbed a kitchen knife and trashed the actor's home after he fled.

Bear -- who also goes by the name Sun Warner -- was charged April 19 with one felony count of vandalism with over $400 damage and one misdemeanor count each of exhibiting a deadly weapon, interference with a wireless communication device and false report of a criminal offense and resisting. She was also charged with obstructing or delaying a peace officer. It's alleged Bear damaged phone lines, a cell phone, windows, home furnishings, clothing and the actor's guitar.

She was ordered to stay away from the actor and his home.

During her standoff with police, sharpshooters were called in, along with negotiators to try to talk her out of the house. Officers eventually used flash-bang grenades and tear gas to enter the home and take Bear into custody about 7:30 that night, police said.

The case is expected to resume on May 23 in Los Angeles Superior Court.
