Bargain-Hunting Parents In Luck This Weekend As 3-Day Sale Comes To Town

HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Families and moms lined up early on Friday for a special 3-day sale that is being called a paradise for parents on a budget.

Four times a year, the retailer Urban Kids Consignment sets up shop to accept gently used, high-quality toys and clothing to sell. After inspecting the items and setting them up in a retail space, shoppers line up to buy the children's items at 50 to 90 percent below their retail value.

"The economy is hard right now," said Heather Conrad, owner of Urban Kids Consignment. "Why in the world would you want to pay full price for an item that you are only going to use for three to six months?"

"They make sure that the stuff is really nice and still clean," said shopper Crista Andrews.

"And I would rather pay half price on something that is like new rather than full price on something that is new."

The three-day event lasts until Sunday, when much of the unsold merchandise will be donated to a Long Beach charity.

"It is great for the economy, it is great for our customers who need to save a little money and mommies who need to make a little money," said Conrad.

"And we also get to help those who are desperate."

The sale will be open from 9a.m. to 5p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 5912 Edinger Avenue in Huntington Beach.
