Learn Important Info About Ovarian Cancer From UC Irvine Medical Center's Dr. Bristow

STUDIO CITY (KCAL9) — Dr. Bristow, director of gynecologic oncology at the UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, stopped by KCAL9 to tell viewers important things to know about ovarian cancer.

Ovarian cancer has the highest mortality of all cancers of the female reproductive system. This disease kills about 15,000 women every year and another 22,000 are diagnosed annually.

Dr. Bristow recommends women seek treatment through programs on the National Cancer Institute website, which has designated 41 comprehensive cancer centers – UC Irvine is one – and others are spread out across the country. Many of them have very good ovarian cancer programs.
