Bomb Squad Responds To UCLA For 'Suspicious Item'

WESTWOOD (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Police Department's Bomb Squad Wednesday responded to the UCLA campus on a report of a "suspicious item".

The item, a briefcase, was found around 6 a.m. in Westwood Plaza, north of Charles E. Young Drive, UCLA media relations said.

The unattended briefcase was found at Parking Structure 9, officials said.

An email was sent out to students, staff and employees warning them to stay away from the area.

Just before 8:20 a.m., the Daily Bruin reported the parking structure had been reopened.

No explosives were found.
