LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The man accused of killing three people in a shooting and car crash on the Las Vegas Strip has been extradited from Los Angeles to Nevada.

Twenty-seven-year-old Ammar Harris was released to Nevada law enforcement officials shortly after 11:30 p.m. Monday, according to jail records. He was returned to the Clark County District Attorney’s Office.

The extradition was delayed after Harris’ request for an identification hearing was granted by the court last month. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Shelly Torrealba examined photographs and fingerprints before determining Harris is “the same individual” sought by Nevada law enforcement for his alleged involvement in the shooting deaths of two adult males and one female.

Harris was arrested Feb. 28 at a Studio City apartment complex after a week-long manhunt.

Las Vegas Metro Police say Harris, a self-proclaimed pimp, shot and killed rapper Kenneth Cherry while driving down Las Vegas Boulevard Feb. 21.

Cherry’s Maserati crashed into a taxi that exploded. The 62-year-old male cab driver and a female passenger were killed.

Five others were injured in the shootout and crash.

Police say an argument between Harris and Cherry at a casino prompted the shooting.

Harris is charged with three counts of murder with use of a deadly weapon, one count of attempted murder, two counts of discharging a firearm at or into a vehicle and five counts of discharging a firearm out of a motor vehicle, according to a criminal complaint filed Feb. 22 in Nevada.
