Comedian David Misch Discusses 'Funny: The Book'

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — Comic folksinger and standup comic David Misch appeared on KCAL 9 Tuesday afternoon to discuss his new work "Funny: The Book".

The book examines the history of wit and humor, including the scientific and cultural roots of comedy and what makes some performers and jokes so funny. Among the subjects he explores are the evolution of the stand-up comedian and the contributions of comic greats like Woody Allen and Richard Pryor.

Misch, whose career in Hollywood began as a screenwriter for "Mork and Mindy", has written for "Saturday Night Live" and taught musical satire at UCLA and foundations of comedy at USC. His writing has been featured online at NationalLampoon.com and Huffington Post, and his play "Occupied" is scheduled for production later this year in Los Angeles.
