Driver Escapes Injury After 400-Ft. Plunge

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 20 -year-old woman not only survived, but escaped serious injury when vehicle veered off a steep road and plunged about 400 feet on Monday.

The driver, whose identity has not been released, was taken to a hospital in stable condition, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department's Erik Scott.

Firefighters responded to the call in the area of Mountaingale Drive and Sepulveda Boulevard around 2:21 p.m.

Crews arrived on the scene by ground and air before rescuing the woman, whose injuries have been described as non-life-threatening, according to Scott.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the accident.
