Ontario Man Arrested In Death Of 2-Year-Old Boy

ONTARIO (CBSLA.com) — A 20-year-old San Bernardino County man has been arrested in the death of 2-year-old boy.

Michael Lucero, of Ontario, was arrested on April 4 on suspicion of causing corporal injury to a child which resulted in death.

According to Ontario police, the unidentified boy was brought to Kaiser Hospital at 12:07 a.m. Thursday via ambulance after becoming unresponsive at his home in the 1100 block of East Philadelphia Street.

After a medical evaluation, the child was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center where he died later that morning. The cause of death was not released pending a coroner's report.

Lucero, who is the boyfriend of the child's mother, was arrested at the hospital, police said. He provides child care for the boy while his mother is at work.

He is being held without bail at the West Valley Detention Center on charges of murder and child neglect resulting in death.
