Woman Charged In Bathtub Drownings Of Her 2 Daughters Commits Suicide In Jail

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A woman charged with murder in the drownings of her two young daughters committed suicide while incarcerated at the Lynwood jail, officials said Wednesday.

Lorna Valle, 33, was found dead on Feb. 23. The coroner listed her cause of death as asphyxia.

Valle was accused of drowning her daughters, ages 1 and 5, in a bathtub at her South Los Angeles home on Feb. 15, 2012. The older girl, Marian, survived the drowning but died after being taken off life support a week later.

Neighbors say Valle was suicidal in the weeks leading up to the deaths of the girls.
