Woman Killed, Officers Injured In La Habra Mobile Home Fire

LA HABRA (CBSLA.com) — A 50-something woman was killed and two police officers were injured Monday in a mobile home fire in La Habra.

The incident was reported around 4:30 p.m. at 1731 W. Lambert Road.

Marie Nunez, who lives next door to the victim, said, "We all ran outside and tried to water-hose it. My brother-in-law and another male were in there trying to save whoever was in there. All that came out was a dog."

A man who lived with the victim said she was ill, but refused to get help.

He told KCAL9's Tom Wait that he left the mobile home for just a few minutes and that's when the flames ripped through the trailer.

The two officers who rushed to the scene were treated at the hospital for smoke inhalation. They're expected to recover.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
