Bentley Owned By Lakers' Jordan Hill Crashes Into Marina Del Rey Complex

MARINA DEL REY (CBSLA.com) — The driver of a black Bentley owned by LA Lakers' forward Jordan Hill has been arrested after crashing into a Marina del Rey building, authorities said.

Hill was not driving nor was he inside the luxury vehicle at the time of the crash.

The California Highway Patrol says the accident occurred sometime after 2 a.m. Saturday. The car reportedly jumped the curb and crashed into the front of Esprit condominiums in the 13900 block of Marquesas Way.

The driver was identified by the CHP as 26-year-old Michael Lacey.

CHP Sgt. Osvaldo Ferreria told KNX 1070's Ed Mertz that the driver was speeding and lost control. Lacey was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Driver, Female Passenger Suffer Minor Injuries In Crash

Lacey is a longtime friend of Hill, Mertz reported. He, along with a passenger in the vehicle, were not seriously injured.

"We heard a large bang and then a splash of water kind of like someone crashed into the pool. And then we walked outside and it looked like a water main had burst. You could smell gas," Daniel Spielman, a witness, said.

"The driver and whoever else was in the car ran up into the building," he said.

No one inside building was hurt.

The Bentley appeared to be a total loss, KCAL9's Art Barron reported.

No further information was provided.
