Officials Identify Man Killed When Car Slams Into Glendale Bakery

GLENDALE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Friday identified a man who was killed when a vehicle plowed into a bakery at a Glendale strip mall.

The victim was identified by a coroner's official as 55-year-old Stephan Vardanyan of Glendale.

A regular at Oledina's Cake Factory, Vardanyan was drinking a cup of coffee when the car crashed through the storefront on Thursday afternoon.

Police say the man was pinned against the counter of the shop located in the 1100 block of East Broadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police also identified the driver as 71-year-old Wanda Wong, also of Glendale. She was not seriously hurt.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
