WHITTIER (CBSLA.com) — Two people were killed and a third person was injured early Thursday morning in a multi-vehicle collision on the 605 Freeway.

The incident started at 2:23 a.m. when a single vehicle hit the center divider on the southbound side of the freeway at Whittier Boulevard.

The driver of that vehicle got out and moved to the side of the freeway.

Within ten minutes, two other vehicles slammed into each other at the same scene.

The drivers of those two vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene.


Authorities shut down all southbound lanes of the freeway for four hours while they cleared the accident. Traffic was diverted onto Beverly Boulevard.
