Rapper Too $hort Arrested For DUI, Drug Possession In Hollywood

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Rapper Too $hort was arrested in Hollywood early Wednesday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence, Los Angeles police said.

The 48-year-old rapper, whose real name is Todd Anthony Shaw, was arrested around 3 a.m. after being pulled over near the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Las Palmas Avenue, officials said.

When officers attempted to breathalyze Shaw, he took off running down the street and tripped, entertainment website TMZ reported.

The "Gettin' It" and "Blow the Whistle" rapper was later apprehended and placed in the back of a patrol car, where he allegedly tried to get rid of drugs in his possession, the website said.

Shaw was booked on DUI and felony drug possession charges.

Wednesday's arrest is Shaw's third for DUI. He was also arrested in 2010 on suspicion of misdemeanor battery after a nightclub performance in Idaho.
