Man Accused Of Child Abuse After Infant Sustains Fractured Skull, Broken Ribs

SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — A 20-year-old man remained behind bars on Saturday on suspicion of seriously injuring a 3-month-old baby.

Kalon Correy Deaton was arrested after the infant was taken to an area hospital on March 7.

A statement released by the San Bernardino Police Department said a medical examination revealed that the child had sustained a fractured skull and broken ribs.

"The injuries were consistent with child abuse," the statement said.

Deaton was subsequently detained. Police have not disclosed what relationship, if any, he had with the child.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the San Bernardino Police Department.
