Bus Stop Sexual Assault Suspect Nabbed In Colton

COLTON (CBSLA.com)  — A suspect wanted for the alleged sexual assault of a woman he met at a bus stop is behind bars, according to authorities in Colton.

Art Juan Castaneda, 41, was arrested Thursday after police said the public helped identify him.

Officials said on February 27, at approximately 9:35 p.m., Castaneda sexually assaulted a woman he just met at a bus stop.

She said the suspect followed her as she walked to a friend's house and assaulted her behind some shrubbery, out of view of passing motorists.

The alleged victim described her attacker as a 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-10 inch tall Latino with thin build and acne scars on both of his cheeks.

She said the suspect also had two scars on his abdomen and was last seen wearing a gray zip-up sweatshirt with hood and gray sweatpants with dark pants.

At the time of his arrest, detectives said they located Castaneda walking with another female he recently met and volunteered to walk home.

Castaneda was booked into the West Valley Detention Center.

The Colton Police Department wanted to thank the public for the many tips they received.
