CITY OF INDUSTRY (CBSLA.com) — Three suspects were arrested Friday following a wild pursuit from the City of Industry to downtown Los Angeles.

Gil Leyvas was overhead in Sky9 as the driver of a blue Audi drove erratically at speeds of more than 80 mph on the surface streets of South LA.

California Highway Patrol officers were able to successfully perform the PIT maneuver at 12:35 p.m., which prompted two men and a woman to flee the vehicle. They attempted to run away, but officers were able to apprehend them.

Officers had earlier tried to stop the vehicle by blocking it with several patrol cars, but the driver was was able to get away — even as an officer had his gun drawn.

One of the first PIT maneuver officers attempted damaged the vehicle’s front right tire, but the suspect was able to keep driving for several minutes.

The chase, which was taken over by the California Highway Patrol, began around 12:04 p.m. on the westbound 60 Freeway in Whittier, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department’s Industry station.
