Police Seek Additional Victims Of Daycare Co-Owner Suspected Of Lewd Acts On A Child
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Detectives are looking for more potential victims after the co-owner of a Boyle Heights daycare facility was charged with committing lewd acts on a child.
Los Angeles Police Department's Hollenbeck Sex Crimes Unit arrested 45-year-old Enrique Ramos on Thursday.
Ramos co-owns Cano & Ramos Child Care Center, located in the 2600 block of Pennsylvania Ave., with his wife.
He was charged with three counts of lewd acts on a child under the age of 14 for crimes allegedly committed in 2008, 2009, and most recently, 2013. The ages of three children involved in the alleged incidents range from 5 to 8 years old, authorities said.
"Due to the nature of Mr. Ramos' employment, the possibility of more victims exists," Los Angeles police said in a statement.
Ramos pleaded not guilty at an arraignment Monday. His bail was set at $1.3 million.
The State Department of Social Services closed the day care center. Authorities said Ramos' wife is not a person of interest.
