1 Killed, 1 Wounded In Drive-By Shooting Near Downtown

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A drive-by shooting near downtown Los Angeles early Sunday morning claimed one life and left a second person injured.

Los Angeles police Sgt. James Provost says the shooting was reported about 2 a.m. at Olympic Boulevard and Mc Garry near Alameda streets.

According to Norma Eisenman of LAPD Media Relations, a suspect in a black sport utility vehicle drove up to the victims, fired some shots and fled.

The deceased, believed to be a 40-year-old man, was struck in his upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other victim, a 35-year-old woman, was shot in the leg. She was taken to an area hospital. Her condition was not known.

The identity of those involved has not been released.
