Owner Of Jerry Buss' Favorite Restaurant Remembers His Longtime Friend

WEST HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — The owner of Dr. Jerry Buss' favorite Italian restaurant in West Hollywood remembered his longtime friend Monday night.

Dan Tana, the owner of the famous celebrity-packed eatery Dan Tana's, knew the Lakers owner for decades.

"I think he spent more time in this restaurant than I spent," said Tana. "Whenever they would ask him which was one of his favorite restaurants, the only restaurant he ever mentioned was Dan Tana's."

Tana told KCAL9's Brittney Hopper that he named Buss' favorite item on the menu, which was the Shrimp Scampi, after the 80-year-old businessman.

The restaurant owner said he even placed a plaque on the wall that showcases a Lakers championship game program with a special message from Buss.

"For the best food in town, see Dan Tana's," Buss wrote on the handout.

Tana said he'll miss his generous customer who eventually became his good friend.

"We will see each other….where he went. And I hope he will be happy wherever he is," he said.
