Woman, 24, Accused Of Fatally Shooting Her 61-Year-Old Mother Inside Home

WOODLAND HILLS (CBSLA.com) — A 61-year-old woman was found fatally shot at a home in Woodland Hills and police say her 24-year-old daughter committed the crime.

The unidentified dead woman was found around 8:20 p.m. Thursday in the 5600 block of Mason Avenue, LAPD Officer Christopher No said.

CBS2 and KCAL9 reporter Brittney Hopper spoke to the suspect's roommate, a man named Terry Hall. He also found the body.

Hall said, "She was face down on the bed. Surrounded by blood. At that point, I called 911. Law enforcement came and they took over the scene."

Police told Hopper the crime followed an argument between the two women.

Hall told Hopper he had been roommates with the 24-year-old suspect for six months but they have been friends for years. And he said violence is "not something consistent with her behavior. Not in the time I have known her."

He described the suspect as a nice young woman who was attending college. Hall said, "I've been talking to the friends of ours and everyone who knows her is in a state of shock."
