SoCal Man Accused Of Raping Woman He Met On Christian Dating Website

SAN DIEGO (CBSLA.com) — Police on Friday believe a Southland man suspected of sexual assaulting a woman he met on a dating website may have other victims.

La Mesa Police Detectives arrested Sean Banks on Feb. 11 and charges of Rape by Force, Residential Burglary, Digital Penetration by Force.

Police say Banks, 37, of Del Mar, used the online name of "Rarity" to lure a victim he met on the dating website ChristianMingle.com.

Banks arrived to the victim's home in La Mesa and was sexually aggressive towards the victim, ultimately raping her, police said.

It was later discovered during the investigation that Sean Banks has also used online names such as "Rylan", Rylan Butterwood, and Rylan Harbough.

Banks was arrested and booked into County Jail while the investigation is ongoing.

Police said they are concerned there may have been more cases with other women. Anyone with information is urged to call the La Mesa Police Department, Detective Scott at (619) 667-7538.
