Simon Baker Of 'The Mentalist' Receives Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Emmy-nominated actor Simon Baker was honored Thursday with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Australian actor currently plays the protagonist, Patrick Jane, on the CBS crime drama "The Mentalist."

The show's creator, Bruno Heller, presented the honor with British-Australian actress Naomi Watts, who starred alongside Baker in "The Ring 2," in a ceremony outside Beso Restaurant at 11:30 a.m. on Hollywood Boulevard.

Baker made his American movie debut in 1997 in "L.A. Confidential." In 2001, Baker got his first starring role on a U.S. television series in "The Guardian," playing a corporate attorney sentenced to 1,500 hours of community service as the result of a drug conviction. The series ran on CBS until 2004 and Baker received an Emmy nomination for best actor in a drama series.

The 43-year-old actor went on to appear in "The Devil Wears Prada," Ang Lee's "Ride With the Devil," and independent films "Restaurant" and "Love from Ground Zero."

The actor received the 2,490th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
