Actress Files Restraining Order After Alleged Facebook Threats

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Actress Alyson Hannigan has obtained a temporary restraining order against a man who has allegedly physically threatened her and her family.

The "How I Met Your Mother" star obtained the court order (PDF) on Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court that requires John Hobbs to remain at least 100 yards away from Hannigan, the Associated Press reported.

Hobbs, 43, of Nashua, New Hampshire, allegedly threatened to murder both Hannigan and her husband Alexis Denisof with "a barrage of threatening messages" on his Facebook page and other websites, according to court documents.

Hannigan's court filings state that Hobbs was recently released from a mental hospital and that he admitted to police in New Hampshire that he wanted to travel to California to meet the actress.

The order covers Hannigan, Denisof, and their two children, ages 1 and 3.
