Lawsuit Citing Sexual Activity Between Students Set To Be Filed Against Carson Church, Pre-School

CARSON (CBSLA.com) — A lawsuit is expected to be filed against a South Bay church and pre-school after allegations surfaced of sexual activity between students under five years old.

Attorney Greg Owens plans to file the civil suit against First Lutheran Church of Carson School, 19707 S. Central Avenue, where at least two incidents of sexual activity between a 5-year-old girl and two 4-year-old boys allegedly occurred in October 2012, KNX 1070's Pete Demetriou reported.

At least one of the incidents was investigated by the Department of Social Services, which cited the school for the episode. The school was also cited for lack of supervision and improper student-to-teacher ratios.

"He's a mess. He misses his friends; he misses his classmates," parent Richard McCarthy said of his son who used to attend First Lutheran Church of Carson School.

Church officials are reportedly set to close the school Friday, stating an inability to find a director for school operations.

Officials say the closure is not related to the investigation into the alleged sexual activity.
