Burglars Allegedly Nab Nearly 60 iPads From Manhattan Beach Elementary School

MANHATTAN BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Two men and a woman allegedly stole 59 iPads from an elementary school in Manhattan Beach over the weekend.

The incident happened early Saturday morning before 5 a.m. at Pacific Elementary School at 1200 Pacific Avenue.

Police said the suspects, who were caught on security cameras, hopped the school's fence and broke into two fifth-grade classrooms.

The thieves reportedly used a bolt cutter to get into the charging crate where the devices were stored.

Authorities said the two male suspects were wearing baseball hats and the woman was wearing a hoodie in the surveillance video.

The iPads were donated by the PTA so students could use them for research projects and class assignments.

The school district said they ordered new iPads and hope insurance will cover the loss.
