Ventura Police Arrest Alleged Indecent Exposure Suspect

VENTURA (CBSLA.com) — The Ventura Police Department has announced the arrest of a 27-year-old man for indecent exposure.

Officials said that just after 2 p.m. Sunday, Jaye Vandervurg, described as a vagrant, was observed engaging in a lewd act in the parking lot of the Fresh and Easy in the 2200 block of Thompson Boulevard.

Responding officers responded to the call and found the suspect about one block away from the business.

Authorities said Vandervurg was witnessed committing the lewd act by several employees and at least one customer of the Fresh and Easy.

Vandervurg was positively identified and then arrested. He was later booked into the Ventura County Jail for committing lewd acts in public.

Police believe Vandervurg has committed similar lewd acts at several businesses in the area -- particularly local coffee shops.

The Ventura Police Department (805-339-4441)  is asking the public to come forward if they were a witness to one of Vandervurg''s lewd acts.
