2 Men Reportedly Direct Anti-Gay Slurs At UCLA Student, Threaten Him With Knife
WESTWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Two men threatened a male student with a knife near University of California Los Angeles while spewing anti-gay slurs, according to university police.
At around 1:30 a.m., the student was walking southbound in the 400 block of Gayley Avenue when the suspect's vehicle pulled up in front of him, UCLA Chief of Police James D. Herren.
Two men stepped out of the vehicle and walked up to the victim. One of the suspects threatened the student with a knife and used anti-gay slurs, Herren said.
During the confrontation, the victim reportedly suffered minor scratches and bruises, but he did not want to be treated. Herren didn't specify how the student was injured.
The two men fled in their dark-colored four-door sedan southbound on Gayley Avenue.
The suspects were both described as being between 26 and 27 years old. The man armed with the knife was described as white, 5 foot 9 inches and between 160 and 170 pounds. He had a shaved head and was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. The second suspect was described as Hispanic, 6 foot 4 inches and approximately 300 pounds. He had long, black hair that was slicked back and was wearing baggy clothing.
