Lohan's Attorney Enters Not Guilty Plea In Misdemeanor Lying Case

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Actress Lindsay Lohan's attorney entered a not guilty plea Tuesday morning on behalf her client for three misdemeanor charges stemming from a crash on Pacific Coast Highway in June.

Longtime defense attorney Shawn Holley entered the plea for the actress who was charged on Nov. 29 for lying to police, reckless driving and resisting an officer while on her way to a movie set last June.

Lohan told officers on June 8, 2012, that she was not behind the wheel of her Porsche and that her assistant was driving when the vehicle slammed into the back of a dump truck on PCH.

The 26-year-old actress was already on probation at the time of the crash for taking a diamond necklace from a Venice jewelry store.

She was not required to appear in court Tuesday because the charges are misdemeanors.

TMZ reported Monday that Lohan had fired Holley and that the actress had hired Mark Heller. Heller is representing the troubled actress in an assault case in New York City.

Tuesday in court, Holley told the judge that she is still representing Lohan.

Lohan faces a maximum of three years from the misdemeanor charges as well as additional jail time if her probation from the theft case is revoked.

She has been ordered to appear in court on Jan. 30 for a pretrial hearing.
