Mothers Of Invention's Lead Vocalist Ray Collins Dies

POMONA (CBSLA.com) — Mothers of Invention's Ray Collins died of cardiac arrest Monday, The New York Times reported.

The 75-year-old had been at the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center for about a week after suffering a massive heart attack, according to Billboard.com.

Collins was the lead vocalist for the avant-garde rock group The Mothers of Invention, which was led by Frank Zappa.

The singer grew up in Pomona and sang in the Emerson Junior High choir, the Times reported.
