10 Underprivileged Kids Given $300 To West Covina Target For 'Shop With A Cop'

WEST COVINA (CBSLA.com) — West Covina Police Officers Association, West Covina Police Department and Target are hosting "Shop with a Cop" Thursday.

The WCPOA selected 10 underprivileged children to take Christmas shopping at 7:45 a.m. at the Target store at 2370 Azusa Ave.

Each child, who was selected based on needs, can chose $300 worth of clothing and toys.

Target will pay sales tax allowing the children to spend the entire amount.

Some of the participants' parents lost their jobs earlier this year and have been struggling to provide basic needs such as soap, shampoo, toothbrushes and school supplies.

A West Covina police officer will be with each child as they shop.

Red Robin will host a luncheon for the children, who will be treated with a surprise visit from Santa Claus.
