Annual Holiday Car Show Gears Up In Yorba Linda

YORBA LINDA (CBSLA.com) — Exotic Ferraris, hot rods and vintage vehicles will all be on display at the 15th annual Holiday Car Show in Yorba Linda Sunday.

And the annual event is being held for a good cause -- the CHiPS for Kids toy drive.

Melissa McCarty, reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, explains that admission to the car show comes at a price -- you have to bring a toy.

The car show will also feature music and celebrity guests (including our own Jackie Johnson) -- and the fastest car ever. Santa Claus is also expected to take part.

The event starts Sunday (it goes from 10 a.m - 4 pm.) and it's the CHP's biggest one-day toy collection day of the year.

Last year, more than 9,000 toys were collected. And McCarty reports "the need is even greater this year."

Said Officer Tod Kovalatz, "Every year we get requests from families in need, that well outweigh the number of toys we take in. We never want to set a goal that we want to reach 'this' many toys. We just want to get as many as possible."

The event is hosted by racing legend John Force. He says, "to see the officers giving out gifts, and to see the looks on those kids' faces? It's unbelievable. So we do our little bit in Yorba Linda to help."
