LAUSD Teacher Pleads Guilty To Molesting Underage Girl

DOWNEY (CBSLA.com) — A Los Angeles Unified School District teacher pleaded guilty Monday to charges related to molesting an underage girl and leading police on a wild pursuit.

Kip Richard Arnold, 51, was charged with three counts of committing a lewd act on a child, two counts of oral copulation of a person under 16 and one count each of sexual penetration by a foreign object and evading an officer.

He pleaded guilty, however, to two counts of committing a lewd act on a child and one count of evading an officer.

The charges were in connection to an intimate relationship Arnold had with a 14-year-old between June and September 2005.

Arnold led police on a high-speed chase on July 10 after he was confronted by Bell police about the victim.

He drove through Torrance and Rolling Hills Estates, where he eventually crashed his pickup truck into a tree.

Arnold worked for the LAUSD for eight years, according to school officials.

Most recently, he was a physical education teacher at Southeast Middle School.

Arnold's sentencing was postponed until Dec. 17.
