Man Wounded In Officer-Involved Shooting In Tustin

TUSTIN (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say they have shot and wounded a man in Tustin while handling a "disturbance call."

The incident occurred at approximately 3:50 p.m. Saturday at an apartment complex in the 14400 block of Newport Avenue.

Tustin police Lt. Paul Garaven said in a news release that officers were dispatched to the home following a disturbance call.

Upon arriving on scene, officers say they confronted the 46-year-old man who was armed with a handgun. A child and woman were also present in the residence.

"The male did not comply with the officers commands and an officer involved shooting occurred," the release said.

The suspect was taken to an area hospital for treatment of a single gunshot wound. He has since been arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.
