STUDIO CITY (CBS2) — Some fashion websites pay users every time they share links to their favorite clothing items from that site on a social media platform.

Beso, The Fancy, and Pose are just a few shopping sites that provide a simple outlet for shoppers to become sellers.

Amy Pollutro uses to find an outfit she likes, which she then links to her Facebook wall.

Pollutro collects between 14 and 16 cents each time one of her friends clicks on that link.

The kicker? No one has to buy anything.

“It’s really fun because my friends can see what I’m buying in real time. Then, if they like it, they can purchase it right from the site,” Pollutro said. “Not only do you get to share your fashion inspiration, but you also get rewarded for it.”

Pollutro had $1.50 in her Beso account after only a few days.

“Over a month’s time that could be $25 to $50…any extra (cash) is great,” she said.

Social media expert David Gerzof Richard said people should expect to see more of this type of marketing from their friends.

“In social media, word of mouth is one of the most important ways to spread and sell anything,” he said. “(But) you want to make sure you’re transparent. Otherwise, you may not have friends at the end of the day.”

Pollutro said her use of Beso isn’t just about the cash flow.

“It’s more for the love of what you’re doing and sharing your ideas and your inspirations with other people,” she said.
