Teen Detained In Alleged Molestation Of Boy, 4, At Burbank Day Care

BURBANK (CBSLA.com) — A 14-year-old male is being detained for allegedly molesting a young boy at a San Gabriel Valley day care center.

Burbank police responded to a call from a mother regarding a possible case of child abuse involving her 4-year-old son, Sgt. Darin Ryburn said.

The woman said her son was sexually abused while at Mejia Family Day Care, located in the 2100 block of Pepper Street in Burbank.

"The toddler was allegedly sexually abused by the 14-year-old son of the day care operators," Ryburn said in a statement.

The juvenile suspect was taken into custody and questioned. He is being held at the Sylmar Juvenile Hall on suspicion of sexual abuse of a minor, according to officials.

"Investigators from the California Department of Social Services-Community Care Licensing Bureau are working with the Burbank Police Department and conducting a full review of the facility," Ryburn said.

Parents of children attending Mejia Family Day Care have been notified of the incident.
