Sheriff's Deputy Injured In Car Crash Near USC

EXPOSITION PARK (CBSLA.com) — A Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy was involved in a car crash near the USC campus Wednesday night.

Police said Raymond Chacon was driving eastbound on Exposition Boulevard when a sheriff's patrol car got in front of his minivan.

Chacon, who was on his way home from work, said he couldn't avoid slamming into the car.

"I was driving eastbound when the sheriff came from the left…with no siren…and came right in front of me. I had no chance to stop," he said.

Chacon said someone was who was detained in the back seat of the deputy's car was screaming after the accident.

KCAL9's Suzie Suh said that person and the deputy were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
