Judge Orders OC Mom To Pay $15K For Son's Graffiti

LAKE FOREST (AP) — Authorities say an Orange County mother must pay $15,000 for gang graffiti sprayed in 23 different incidents.

The Orange County Register reports Saturday that a superior court judge ordered Maria Gutierrez to make the payment under a recently amended ordinance by the city of Lake Forest.

Police say the boy, whose name and age were not released, left his tags on businesses, walls, fences, utility poles and a pedestrian tunnel.

Lake Forest attorney Matt Silver says three other cases have been settled under the ordinance that allows the city to seize wages or property from parents and teens, but this was the first that required legal action. Three other cases remain in litigation.
