CBS2/KCAL9 President Honored With ACTivist Award From Autism Group

MALIBU (CBSLA.com) —  CBS2/KCAL9 President and General Manager Steve Mauldin was honored Saturday evening with the ACTivist Award at ACT Today!'s 7th annual Denim & Diamonds autism fundraiser in Malibu.

Actor Joe Mantegna of CBS' "Criminal Minds" was also honored with the ACTivist Award. Both Mauldin and Mantegna have children who have autism. They were honored for their tireless efforts to bring awareness about autism to the public.

Mauldin created "Stephanie's Day" to honor his daughter. Stephanie's Day is an annual event that brings together scores of agencies under one tent -- it's a resource fair to help inform and connect families of children with special needs, primarily autism.

Community activist Kathleen Sternbach received the 2012 Golden Cowgirl Award for her contributions to the cause.

More than 500 people attended the event with a wide array of Hollywood actors, CBS personalities, "Criminal Minds" co-stars and other celebrities on hand.

ACT Today! (Autism Care and Treatment Today!) is a national non-profit whose mission is to provide care and treatment to children with autism.
