Koreatown Shooting Suspect Identified As Company's President

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Police Friday identified the suspect they said shot and critically wounded a co-worker in Koreatown yesterday.

The suspect was identified as 52-year-old Ji Tae Kim. Police Friday said he was the president of the business where the shooting took place.

Paramedics responded shortly before 4 p.m. to a high-rise building at 3440 Wilshire Boulevard, near Normandie Avenue, according to LAPD Sgt. Dino Caldera.

The suspect allegedly walked into Venture Commercial Realty, walked into his co-worker's office and shot him.

The victim was described Friday as a 44-year-old male.

Officials said the victim had multiple gunshot wounds. When Fire Department rescue personnel arrived on scene, they found the man bleeding on the floor of his office.

It is not known how long the two men worked together.

The suspect surrendered to police as soon as they arrived, Caldera said.

Authorities said on Friday that they're still trying to determine what motivated the attack.

Kim was booked on attempted murder charges and is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
