Laguna Beach Man Commits Suicide After Killing Wife, Dog

LAGUNA BEACH (CBSLA.com) —A Laguna Beach man committed suicide after he killed his wife and dog.

Authorities were called about a possible shooting shortly before 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at 835 La Mirada Street, said Capt. Jason Kravetz from the Laguna Beach Police Department.

Police said Michael Brown, 49, shot his Great Dane and his 47-year-old wife, Mendy, before he killed himself at their Laguna home.

Kravetz said a friend found all three dead after Brown didn't show up for work.

Detectives think the shooting happened on Tuesday because that's when a neighbor heard gunshots, according to Kravetz.

Two weapons were recovered at the scene, said Kravetz.
