Woman's Nude Body Found Inside Trunk Of Car At Azusa Tow Yard

AZUSA (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives are investigating the suspicious death of a woman whose nude body was found Tuesday evening inside the trunk of a car at a tow yard.

KNX 1070's Jon Baird reports the body was found just after 5 p.m. in the tow yard located at 1000 W. Gladstone Street in Azusa.

The red Honda Accord was hauled to the location earlier in the day after a worker reported the car was illegally parked on a horse ranch in the 3700 block of Fish Canyon Road.

Cesar Beltran, the driver who towed the car to the yard, discovered the body after doing a routine inspection of the vehicle.

"I was doing my inventory and it asks us if it has a spare tire, so I popped the trunk to check if it had a spare tire. As soon as I opened the trunk I just seen the body laying in there," Beltran said.

Beltran said there was no obvious damage to the car and there were numerous pieces of clothing inside.

Detectives said Wednesday they believed the car was owned by the woman, whose identity has not been released.

Coroner's officials believe the woman was in her 60s.

"It is unknown at this time how the woman's body got into the trunk of the car or what was the cause of her death," sheriff's officials said in a statement.

Detectives are investigating both the ranch and the car while they await the coroner's report.

"The LA County Sheriff's Department has come in to try and determine if there is any foul play, if this could be an overdose, an accident or how her body ended up in the trunk," Lt. John Corina said.

Anyone with information about the case should call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
