Public's Help Sought To Identify Alleged Gunman In Brutal Attack Outside Whittier Store

WHITTIER (CBSLA.com) — Authorities on Saturday sought the public's help in identifying a suspected gunman in connection with a shooting in unincorporated Whittier that occurred several months back.

The incident in the parking lot of a Valu Plus Food Warehouse in the 15000 block of Mulberry Drive happened at 3:13 a.m. on Aug. 20.

A statement issued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department says the suspect walked up to the 27-year-old victim and "brutally shot him multiple times at point blank range without any provocation."

The victim had been arriving to work at the store, the statement said.

Video surveillance from a nearby convenience store shortly before the attack captured a man authorities believe is the suspect.

Those with more information about the case were asked to contact Detective Shortridge at (562) 863-8711, Extension 5446.
