5 Firefighters Hurt In Blaze As It Rips Through Echo Park Building

ECHO PARK (CBSLA.com) — Five firefighters were injured battling a blaze that tore through a commercial building near the Ventura (101) Freeway Tuesday night.

SKY9's Stu Mundel reported that the fire destroyed a two-story structure, located at 1625 Palo Alto Street near Belmont Avenue.

Los Angeles County Fire said the blaze was reported shortly after 10 p.m.

More than 100 firefighters were on scene, with many on the roof, even as flames caused it to collapse in several places.

Five firefighters suffered minor injuries and, soon after being treated, returned to fight the blaze.

By 12:15 a.m. Saturday, crews had reportedly put out the fire.
