Search On For Man Suspected Of Robbing Bank In Ventura

VENTURA (CBSLA.com) — A man suspected of robbing a bank in the city of Ventura remained at large on Sunday.

The City of Ventura Police Department said in a statement that officers responded to Rabo Bank on South Mills Road at 5:46 p.m. Friday following a report of a robbery.

When they arrived on scene, police were told that the alleged robber – a white male donning a blonde wig – walked in, pulled out a knife and demanded money.

The statement said one of the bank's customers apparently tried to thwart the robbery by striking the suspect with a bank post.

The alleged robber, however, was undeterred. Police said he managed to flee, possibly in a white Pontiac Grand-Am.

It wasn't immediately clear how much money was taken.

The suspect was described in the statement as between 35 to 45 years of age. He was last seen wearing a blue dress shirt and jeans, police said.
